Visa & Entry Requirements for Romania

As the organisers of the upcoming Gala Ceremony, we want to ensure your journey to Romania is completely seamless. Because Romania is a full Schengen Area member, international entry rules are strictly enforced at the border.

It is your personal responsibility to secure the correct travel documents before booking your flights. Airlines will deny boarding, and border control will refuse entry at the airport if you do not meet these requirements.

Please review your category below to determine your entry requirements:

Category 1: EU / EEA / Swiss Citizens

• Requirement: No visa required.
• Entry Documents: You can enter Romania freely using a valid National Identity Card or a valid Passport.

Category 2: Citizens of Visa-Exempt Countries (e.g., US, UK, Canada, Australia)

• Requirement: No visa required for stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
• Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure date from the Schengen area and must have been issued within the last 10 years.
• Crucial 2026/2027 Update: The European Union is introducing the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). While currently undergoing system tests, it is highly recommended that you check the official European Union ETIAS Portal closer to the event date to see if mandatory pre-travel screening has gone live.

Category 3: All Other Nationalities (e.g., India, China, South Africa)

• Requirement: A Short-Stay Schengen Visa (Type C) is mandatory.
• Where to Apply: You must apply online via the official Romanian eVisa Portal. Once your digital documents are validated, you must attend an in-person interview at your local Romanian Embassy or Consulate.
• When to Apply: You must submit your application at least 15 to 20 calendar days before your trip, but no earlier than 6 months before your travel date.
• Exemption: If you already hold a valid, multiple-entry Schengen Visa issued by another Schengen country, you can use it to enter Romania without applying for a separate Romanian visa, provided it covers the duration of your stay.

1. Valid Passport: Must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for 3 months after leaving the Schengen zone.
2. Completed Application Form: Printed and signed from the eVisa Portal.
3. Event Invitation Letter: Contact us directly if you require an official corporate invitation letter detailing the event purpose, dates, and venue.
4. Flight Itinerary: Proof of a confirmed round-trip airline ticket.
5. Proof of Accommodation: A confirmed hotel booking covering all nights spent in Romania.
6. Schengen Travel Medical Insurance: Must provide a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency medical care and evacuation.
7. Proof of Financial Sufficiency: Bank statements proving you possess a minimum of €50 per day (and a total minimum of €500) for your stay.
8. Visa Fee: Standard Schengen adult visa processing fee of €90 (payable in your local currency equivalent)
